goodtogo.dev will always be a blue-collar company.

On the drive to Luling yesterday, I listened to Lex Fridman’s podcast with Oliver Anthony talking about the plight of Americans working blue-collar jobs. Oliver (Chris Lunsford) described how mainstream America has ignored the working man and woman working blue-collar jobs in America. He then went on to talk about the alarmingly high rates of depression, suicide and substance abuse among blue-collar workers.

I’ve always considered myself blue collar. I never wanted to be a manager, an executive. That’s why my title is Head of Engineering, not some bullshit title like Founder, or the pinnacle of pompous titles that one can award oneself: Entrepreneur. I take pride in my work, that I produce something with my own hands that others find valuable.

Zahra and I started goodtogo.dev specifically to help small businesses. We designed the product and platform to efficiently use automation and AI so that we can offer enterprise level marketing at prices that are affordable for mom and pop businesses.

These are the same small businesses that I worked to help when I was a board member of the local economic development corporation. I would walk around the community, pop into businesses and just listen to what the business owners had to say. I was able to fix some things for them as some of the less well connected businesses were not being equally represented from the tax dollars spent on marketing campaigns for the local business community.

The work with the EDC proved to be an invaluable experience that carried over to goodtogo.dev. I talk to business owners to understand their story and their needs. Navigating the online landscape can be daunting for small businesses. Zahra hears this in your voice when she calls you. You’re tired of companies who take advantage of you, who promise unrealistic outcomes, take your money and then disappear.

We make sure to take the time to understand every business, who you are, what services you offer, who your customers are, why you do what you do. Then we help you understand the online landscape and build a digital presence that best represents your business and tells your story. We make sure that your online digital assets are as polished as they possibly can be, putting you in the best possible position to succeed. Then we’re there for you every step of the way in the future.

We will always be a blue-collar business, being scrappy, figuring things out, working 16 hours a day to get it done. I see venture capitalists trying to justify their existence, preening like teenagers because they “own distribution”, “have taste” and other grand larcenies of ego. Let me be clear, we will never take VC money to expand more quickly. We will always put our customers first and we will never allow anyone or anything to dilute our commitment to you.

We are a blue-collar company who helps other blue-collar companies be more successful.
